When To Travel

Best Time to Visit Uganda

Uganda is a year‑round destination, but gorilla trekking, wildlife viewing, and weather patterns vary by season. Here’s when to plan your perfect Ugandan adventure.

June — September

Peak Dry Season

Best for gorilla trekking (easier trails) and wildlife in Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, and Kidepo. Little rain, comfortable temperatures.

October — November

Short Rains

Lush green landscapes, fewer tourists, and lower lodge rates. Gorilla permits still available, but trails can be muddy.

December — February

Dry & Calving

Another dry window. Excellent for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale and birdwatching. Wildlife gathers around water sources.

March — May

Long Rains

Low season – heavy rains, many trails close. However, dramatic skies, lush vegetation, and the best rates for budget travelers.
